FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
📢 Tom Leung to Launch 2025 Quincy School Committee Campaign with Kick-Off Fundraiser
Quincy, MA – March 14, 2025 – Tom Leung, a lifelong Quincy resident, Quincy Public Schools graduate, and devoted father, is officially launching his campaign for Quincy School Committee with an exciting Kick-Off Fundraiser on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Wah Lum Kung fu and Tai chi Academy on 1145D Hancock Street Quincy, MA 02169. (Entrance and Parking are in the back, accessed from Dimmock Street, lower level).
This event marks the beginning of Tom’s journey to bring fresh leadership, transparency, and greater representation to Quincy’s schools. Currently, only one school committee member has children in the school system. As a father of three current QPS students, Tom will bring a much-needed parent’s perspective, ensuring the voices of Quincy families are prioritized when critical decisions about education are made. He is fully invested in his children's education and growth—and that means advocating for all families in Quincy.
A Fresh Voice with Deep Roots in Quincy
Tom understands Quincy’s schools, community, and families because he has lived their experiences. Raised in a blue-collar, immigrant household, he knows firsthand the challenges of navigating school resources, overcoming language barriers, and striving for success. He worked hard, excelling academically at Quincy High School (Class of 1997), Tufts University (dual degrees in Computer Science and Finance), and Northeastern University (MBA). Today, as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Vice President at Brown Brothers Harriman, Tom has built a career in investment management, financial strategy, and budgeting—skills that will help ensure QPS resources are allocated effectively to benefit all students and families.
His lived experience allows him to connect with diverse student needs:
✅ A Voice for the 40% Asian Student Population – As a Chinese American, Tom understands the unique cultural and academic challenges many immigrant families face and will work to ensure all students feel represented and supported.
✅ A Voice for Working Families – Growing up in an immigrant household, Tom understands the balancing act of hard work, financial responsibility, and educational opportunity. He will advocate for greater student support and equitable access to resources to help all children thrive.
✅ A Voice for Advanced Learners – Tom also recognizes that students who excel need access to advanced learning opportunities and competitive challenges to reach their full potential.
With a diverse background, deep-rooted connection to Quincy, and a forward-thinking approach, Tom is ready to bring new energy and a fresh perspective to the School Committee.
